KYOTO

These are just a few snaps from in and around Kyoto...
Actually, this first picture isn't tecnically Kyoto. It's Kibune which was about 40 minutes out of town in the mountains. We walked from there to Kurama... where I had my first onsen (Japanese bath) experience.

Stepping stones at Heian jingu.

The Golden Pavilion. You can just see that there is red carpet laid down on the ground floor. That was for George W. Bush who was there about an hour before us!

More Autumn leaves. These were at the Silver Pavilion.

Ryoan-ji zen garden.

KYOTO Monkeys

We stumbled upon this monkey park purely by chance.
Really !! It wasn't in the Lonely Planet !
Anyway, the monkeys were roaming wild all over this hill and you could walk among them. At the top of the hill they were sitting on all of the benches so you couldn't sit down!
At the top of the hill you could go into this cage and feed the monkeys too...
